MONTREAL, June 7, 2012 (AFP) - Scottish driver Paul di Resta believes this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix will offer his Force India team a chance to
demonstrate how much progress they have made since the start of the season.

Although the British outfit have regularly finished in the points, they have yet to find the kind of pace that landed them sixth place in last year's title race.

However, Di Resta remained positive about the potential of his Force India car and hoped to demonstrate how far the team have progressed since the start of the season.

"It wasn't a secret that we struggled at the beginning of the year compared to what we first thought, but we rapidly moved on," said Di Resta.

"We brought a good update to Barcelona and we brought that forward in Monaco but it was difficult to understand that much more, but here will give
us a better indication of what to expect for the forthcoming races."

Force India are currently eighth in the constructors standings, 13 points adrift of Sauber and a further three behind Williams.

The 26-year-old admitted that his car did not have the pace he had been hoping for, but insisted he had every faith in the team to overhaul the

"We feel we are a bit behind Sauber and Williams at the moment and to overcome them we need to do the maximum job in the races, and that is what we
need to do this weekend," he said.

"We need to understand the car a bit more in terms of upgrades, that is what we are trying to achieve. I have every confidence the team will achieve that - last year our development rate went very high from mid-season and I hope we can do that again. I don't think we are getting the maximum out of the car yet."
