Finally! - It's Nürburgring!

It took a long process to defined the 2013 German GP host track.

January 31st, 2013 (F1plus Team).- An agreement has been reach and the 2013 German Grand Prix has an official host: the Nürburgring circuit. The Formula 1 “supremo” Bernie Ecclestone confirmed the news.

It was technically the turn for Nürburgring to host the 2013 German GP (along with Hockenheim both tracks take yearly turns for the race), but the circuit misfortunes had put on hold those plans and for while, even its mid-term future was uncertain.

The Eifel based track was declared bankrupt six months ago, which prompted the speculation of having Hockenheim to be name as the hosting venue.

Apparently, the circuit owners Nürburgring GmbH had run into trouble over leasing fees with track operator NAG.

However, after a long negotiation process and discussion between circuit organizers and Ecclestone, a deal has now been reached to save the race.

"I appreciate the Nürburgring and its history very much," said Ecclestone. "This circuit makes the highest demands on drivers and teams. I was very pleased to advocate the hosting of the Formula 1 race at the Nürburgring in order to sustain this traditional race track."

In a statement published by Reuters Ecclestone has now confirmed that a deal has been agreed and the race will take place on July 7.

"I treasure the Nürburgring and its history," Ecclestone said in a statement on Thursday. "In view of its long tradition, I was glad to support choosing the Nürburgring as the venue for the Formula One."

The announcement brings the number of confirmed races in 2013 to 19, with the open slot for a European round on July 21 still yet to be filled.
