Raikkonen and Alonso not happy with Perez

The Mexican certainly provided a bit of entertainment, for some it was too much.

May 27th, 2013 (F1lus).- It is not a secret that races at Monaco could be more in the boring side, commonly procedural, yet usually eventful. The sixth round of the Formula 1 championship was exactly like that.

There was a note before the event saying the Montecarlo race has a 80% chance of Safety car, well, it was point because we saw it three times, we even saw a red flag.

Nevertheless, the most interesting note of the day, aside from the uncontested win by Nico Rosberg, was the aggressiveness shown by Sergio Perez who made a couple of heart-stopping overtakes; one over his teammate Button and another over no other but Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard, who did not seem to be in his element, was almost overtaken when Perez took the inside at the chicane, which forced the Spaniard to cut the corner and come out in front, for this he was later told to give the place to the Mexican.

Naturally, Alonso believes Perez maneuver was not the most appropriate and was quoted by SKY BBC saying:
"He has the car parked in the Rascasse - that is the only point that you can say.”

"He was lucky this year in two or three incidents. In Bahrain nearly contact with Jenson, with me I was off the track avoiding contact. Here at the chicane I avoided contact again...But only McLaren has to be happy with him." Alonso added.

Problem was that the Mexican tried for one more time, at the very same place, the chicane, only that this time Kimi Raikkonen reacted faster than the aforementioned blocking –legally- him the way.

The Finn’s move provoked the Mexican to go to a side to avoid impact getting squeezed against the barrier, a touch the allowed him to stay in the race but no for much longer as he suffered enough damage to retire.

It was brave attempt from the Mexican, proper of a youngster that perhaps could not read that his position was good enough. The incident cost Raikkonen his race as the Lotus driver had to make a quick stop to replace his punctured left rear tyre.

As expected the ‘Iceman’ was rather hot over the issue.

"He hit me from behind and that's about all there is to it. If he thinks it's my fault that he came into the corner too fast then he obviously has no idea what he's talking about.” Raikkonen said.

The Finn was able to salvage a mere point after overtaking Hulkenberg for 10th in the very last lap.

"It's not the first time he's hit someone in the race. He seems to expect people to be always looking at what he might do, then move over or go straight on if he comes into the corner too quick and isn't going to make it without running into someone.

"Because of one stupid move from Sergio we've lost a lot of points to Sebastian in the championship and you can't afford to lose ground like that.” He added reflecting his disappointment over the situation and its consequences.
