Hulkenberg ends Sauber's point-less streak

Nico Hulkenberg broke Sauber’s dry spell by picking up their first point since the Chinese Grand Prix
Sunday, June 30, 2013

SILVERSTONE, UK, June 30th, 2013 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Following a disappointing qualifying session, Nico Hulkenberg managed to bring the car home just inside the points, preventing the team from completing five races without picking up a point.

Though less severe than the high speed failures everyone is talking about, the young German suffered his own tyre issues, reporting a slow puncture during his second stint.

Life at Sauber hasn’t been a walk in the park for Hulkenberg who recently said, “We just have to keep our heads down and focus on the current situation trying to improve the car, make it faster.”

Hulkenberg’s teammate Esteban Gutierrez was one of five drivers who suffered a high speed tyre failure issue, though unlike the others it was his front left tyre which failed, damaging his front wing in the process.

Aside from that, Gutierrez had a fairly quiet and clean race and was able to finish in 14th place. Gutierrez has yet to score a point in his debut season of Formula 1.
