MONZA, September 7th, 2013 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Adrian Sutil has received a three place grid drop for tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix after the stewards decided he had impeded Lewis Hamilton during qualifying.
Both Sutil and Hamilton were called to speak to the stewards, who then reviewed the evidence and came to the conclusion that Sutil had impeded Hamilton, though not intentionally.
"The Stewards determined the impeding was not intentional however it is the responsibility of the driver to be aware of the approaching car," the official statement read.
Hamilton, who failed to get through to Q3 for the first time since the 2010 Malaysian Grand Prix, didn’t feel that the incident with Sutil was the main reason for his disappointing performance.
“I should have done it on the lap before anyway.” Hamilton said.
Sutil will now start the race in 17th place, promoting Pastor Maldonado, Paul di Resta and Esteban Gutierrez up one place each.
