Interlagos, BRAZIL, November 23rd, 2013 (F1Plus / Bruno Ferreira) - Nico Rosberg hailed the strategy adopted by Mercedes in the last part of the qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos. In challenging weather conditions, the German driver managed to set the second fastest time and will start Sunday’s race on the front row.
Although his lap was 0,6s slower than the pole position scored by Sebastian Vettel, Rosberg believes he couldn’t have finished any higher this Saturday.
“Everything went to plan. It’s always extremely tough in these conditions because it’s just all over the place and you need to make sure you don’t get caught out. But we all did a good job and perfect strategy also in the end doing two consecutive laps,” he said. “Surprised about the gap to Sebastian, that’s very big. Definitely would have been difficult, even getting everything perfect, to come close to him.”
The German driver has been showing a strong pace on the wet track, but nonetheless he says he doesn’t have any preference about weather conditions for the race. “I don’t mind. Whatever is okay. It can be dry or wet. Maybe in the wet I have a little bit of a better chance against Sebastian, but it will be tough either way. Maybe a mix will be good for a little opportunity.”
