Williams releases first images of its FW36

The British team has been the first to show the rumored "anteater" nose design .

January 23rd, 2014 (F1plus/GMM).- Williams on Thursday gave the world its first real look at the kind of unseemly nose solutions that will adorn the cars in 2014. As it seems fears of upcoming "uggly" cras were not part of the speculation game.

The British team released computer-generated images of its new FW36, including an anteater-like nose appendage to conform with the sport's radical new rules.

There were four images in differen angles, being th emost kind to the eyes the one from a side angled (see below).

Solutions along the lines of Williams' are expected up and down the pitlane in 2014, as teams make the most aerodynamically of the new, lower maximum nose height, inserted in the rules for safety reasons.

"There are some significant changes: the nose is lower than last year and the front wing is narrower, which means the end plates are now more shrouded by the front tyre.

"The rear wing isn't as deep as last year and the beam wing below it is no longer permitted, and we've also lost the ability to use the exhaust to enhance aero performance." Pat Symonds, the team Technical Chief commented.

But many think the FIA has gone a step too far when it comes to pushing teams into producing 'ugly' cars.

"One of the team bosses said a couple of months ago he hated what the front of his car looked like," former driver turned broadcaster Martin Brundle is quoted by the Telegraph.

"I can't use the word he used to describe it. We can't seem to get them elegant at the front."
