January 24th, 2014 (F1plus).- Just one day before revealing the 2014 Formula 1 title challenger, Ferrari has announced its name; the F14-T, interestingly though, the name was chosen by more than a million fans.
Scuderia fans from around the globe picked the name among a short list of five via online in a process that started on January the 15th and ended midnight last night.
“It’s nice to know the name of the car has been chosen by our fans,” Stefano Domenicali told www.ferrari.com.
“The amazing number of votes shows just how popular Ferrari has always been and this will be, as always, a further impetus for us to do well this year!.” He added.
There was a total of 1,123,741 votes and the winning margin was just 19,104 or 1.7%, after a very close fight with F166 Turbo, whose 66 number made reference to the current Formula 1 season (Ferrari is the only team that has participate din all of them).
The other three names on the list fared less well: third was F14 Scuderia (18.8%), followed by F14 Maranello (12.3%) and F616 (4.8%.)
The votes were cast all around the world, 208 nations were represented. No doubt, Italy was the leader, followed by Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom and France.
Tomorrow will be formal unveiling of 2014 Formula Ferrari, the F14-T.
