March 24, 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - In an interview with Austrian newspaper, Kurier, Dietrich Mateschitz said Red Bull Racing would consider leaving the sport if they were unhappy with Formula One’s sportsmanship and political influence.

They may have dominated the sport for the past four seasons but Mateschitz says the team would leave the sport if ‘limits’ were crossed.

The question is not so much whether it makes economic sense but the reasons would be to do with sportsmanship, political influence etc,” Mateschitz said when asked by Kurier what would force Red Bull Racing to leave the sport.

“from our perspective, there is a clear limit to what we can accept.”

The Austrian criticised the rule changes which means that this years cars are quieter and slower than last years.

“It is there neither to set new records in fuel consumption, or so that you can talk in a whisper during a race,”

“It is absurd to race a lap seconds slower than last year. GP2 partially provides more racing and fighting and almost equal lap times as F1 with a small fraction of the budget.”

Red Bull Racing have lodged an appeal against Daniel Ricciardo’s disqualification the Australian Grand Prix after he was deemed to have exceeded the fuel flow rate limit.

The appeal will be heard in Paris on April 14, the Monday before the Chinese Grand Prix.
