April 19, 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Williams performed well in the wet in Shanghai with Felipe Massa qualifying sixth and Valtteri Bottas seventh.

The pair were pleased with the cars performance in the wet but are hoping the race will be a dry one.

“Today was a positive day for us as it’s clear we have made some improvements in the wet.” Bottas said.

“The updates we brought here have helped in the dry but it’s good to see they have improved the car’s performance in the wet as well.”

“We are still more competitive in the dry so we hope the race will be dry and we can finish higher than we are today.”

Rob Smedley, who has recently joined the team as Head of Vehicle Performance, was happy with how the team performed during qualifying but said the Grove based team still have work to do.

“Sessions like that are never easy, but I am once again impressed with the day’s performance. To not be penalised by a wet qualifying shows that the work we have done has improved the handling of the car.” Smedley said.

“We still have some work to do with the car in terms of performance but it is good to see progress.”

Williams head into the Chinese Grand Prix sixth in the constructors’ championship.
