BARCELONA, 10th May 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - After qualifying 20th Marcus Ericsson said the behaviour of his Caterham was unpredictable.

“The car behaviour is unpredictable pretty much the whole way round the track and that makes putting together a clean lap very difficult.” Ericsson said.

The Swedish rookie said he was hoping for a clean race and would take advantage of any opportunities he could.

“we have to put this behind us and focus on the race.” he said.

“Overall, we’re starting from the same bit of the grid as we have for most of the season and we have to focus on having a clean race, maintaining the much improved reliability we’ve had since China and grabbing whatever opportunities come our way.”

On Friday Ericsson told F1Plus they were struggling with grip, a comment which was echoed by teammate Kamui Kobayashi on Saturday afternoon.

“Another difficult day with more of the same grip problems I had in both practice sessions yesterday.” The Japanese driver said.

Caterham aren’t the only team struggling with the tyres. Sergio Perez has been the most vocal about the lack of grip and the difference in speed between Formula One and GP2 cars.

All the drivers in the briefing are complaining that we go around and we are sliding because it's difficult to find any grip.” Perez said.

“I hope Pirelli react to this and listen more to the drivers and the fans and do something to have more interesting races. I think it's going to be a boring Sunday for the fans.”
