Alonso 'reasonably' happy with Friday running

Meanwhile Raikkonen says he's not 100% happy with the F14 T's handling

6th June, 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Fernando Alonso says he is ‘reasonably’ happy with Friday’s running in Canada.

“I am reasonably pleased with the day’s testing as we got through a lot of work without encountering any particular problems.” Alonso said.

The Spaniard says the Ferrari must now analyse the data in preparation for qualiying.

“We tried some new components and now we must concentrate on getting a good understanding of how they are working.” he said.

“As always on a Friday, we must analyse all the data we have gathered to try and be as well prepared as possible for tomorrow’s qualifying,”

Alonso is not expecting any issues with the Supersoft tyres during quality or the race as they’re lasting longer at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve than they were in Monaco.

“the Supersofts are not like they were in the past and in a race, they last for many laps.” he said.

“For that reason I think there won’t be any problems either in qualifying or the first stint of the race.”

Running in FP1 was limited for Kimi Raikkonen due to an issue with his car.

The Finn said he still wasn’t 100% happy with the handling of the car but hopes the data will help them improve for qualifying.

“it [FP2] didn’t go badly and by the end of the day my feeling with the car had improved.” Raikkonen said.

“I am still not 100% happy with the handling of the F14 T, but I am sure that an analysis of the data we gathered will point us in the right direction for qualifying and the race.”
