7th June, 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Adrian Sutil has admitted that Sauber have deficiencies in most areas after qualifying 16th for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The German driver described the C33 as difficult to drive and 'nervous'.
“The car is difficult to drive. We need more downforce and have deficiencies in most areas.” Sutil said.
“The driveability in qualifying was not optimal. It was very tricky to control the car with the throttle, because it is very nervous.”
Teammate Esteban Gutierrez was unable to take part in qualifying and will start the race from the pitlane as the team had to change his chassis after a crash in FP3.
The Mexican driver lost control of the car in turn 3 and crashed into the wall at turn 4.
He explained the incident and said the team will need to analyse what caused the incident.
“Concerning what happened today, we have to further analyse what caused the problem.” Gutierrez said.
“I came into the corner with a little bit of oversteer, then later something happened and I lost the car completely.”
“We have to find out whether this happened through what I did, or something I had identified earlier.”
