SILVERSTONE, 3rd July 2014 (F1 Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Coming up to the halfway point in the season, F1 Plus spoke to rookie Marcus Ericsson and asked him about his season so far.

“I think it’s been alright, I think I’ve done a reasonable job. As a driver you always want to do better of course.” Ericsson said.

“I think it’s been quite a difficult year with the big change in Formula One, coming into this season, and it was a very difficult pre-season with not many days of driving for me and also with all these new things.”

The Swede said his 11th place finish in Monaco was a highlight for him.

“I think I’ve learned a lot and I’m making improvements all the time and had some really good moments, like Monaco where I equalled the Caterham’s best result which was a big highlight for me.” he said.

“It’s been an okay start to my career and it now needs to keep improving.”

“I think it’s always difficult to know what it’s like,” he said when asked if being an F1 driver was what he expected it to be like.

“I mean it’s a dream that everyone has that’s involved in motorsport, to become a Formula One driver, to get that dream to come true and be able to drive in Formula One is overwhelming.”

Earlier this week Caterham announced that they had new owners. Ericsson said he hadn’t given much thought to it.

“I don’t really know to be honest, it’s very fresh this obviously. We have to see.” said the Swede.

“I’ve been just working really hard with the people I work with, I haven’t really been thinking a lot about it,”

“All I can say really is that we’re thankful, everyone, for what Tony [Fernandes] did for the team,”
