19th July 2014 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Nico Rosberg took pole position at his home race while teammate Lewis Hamilton crashed in Q1.
Rosberg took his fifth pole position of the year after setting a lap time of 1:16.540 half way through Q3.
Starting alongside Rosberg on the front row is Valtteri Bottas in the Williams.
Bottas’ teammate Felipe Massa will start third.
Kevin Magnussen was the fastest McLaren during qualifying and will start tomorrow’s race fourth.
The Red Bull duo finished two-by-two with Daniel Ricciardo starting fifth and Sebastian Vettel sixth at his home race.
Fernando Alonso qualified seventh ahead of Daniil Kvyat in eighth.
The Force India’s locked out the fifth row with Nico Hulkenberg starting ninth and Sergio Perez tenth.
Jenson Button just missed on out Q3 and will start 11th ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.
Jean-Eric Vergne will start 13th ahead of Esteban Gutierrez and Romain Grosjean.
With just over seven minutes to go in Q1 Lewis Hamilton brought out the red flags when he crashed into the barriers at turn 13.
Mercedes reported that his front right brake disc failed and confirmed that Hamilton had undergone a check-up and was ‘ok but sore’. He will start 16th.
Adrian Sutil failed to get through to Q2 after Grosjean beat him at the end of Q1. Sutil will start his home race 17th.
Jules Bianchi will start 18th, Pastor Maldonado 19th, Kamui Kobayashi 20th and Max Chilton 21st.
Marcus Ericsson did not take part in qualifying as the team were unable to fix a hydraulic issue in time.
