SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, August 23rd, 2014 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Valtteri Bottas is targeting a podium finish at the Belgian Grand Prix.
The FInnish driver qualified sixth in the rain but with a dry race forecast he feels a top three finish is possible.
"If it is dry that should be the target [podium]. It think it is be possible if we can get everything right with the strategy and have a good start of the race," Bottas said.
The Finn is aiming to pass the two Red Bull's and the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso as soon as possible.
"It would be good to get past the Ferrari and Red Bulls as quickly as possible," he said.
"If we can get in front of them as quickly as possible then we can keep them behind and then have a clean run.
Bottas was aiming to qualify in the top five but was unable to get a clean out-lap on new tyres during Q3.
"We’ve made some steps with the car in the wet and I was hoping in Q3 to get into the top five, that was the goal."
"We didn’t really get a clean out-lap with the new set of tyres in Q3 and we lost a bit of tyre temperature, which for the whole of qualifying was really critical for us."
Teammate Felipe Massa will start the Belgian Grand Prix from ninth place.
